  1. Steve Thomas’s gaming zine “Mais n’est-ce pas la gare?” uses the ides of each month as deadlines. Steve uses March, May, July, and October 15th and the 13th of the other months.

  2. I own all three of Roger B. Nelsen’s “Proofs without Words” books. My favorite may be the geometric proofs of the sum of a geometric series, e.g,,

  3. Back a few years when we were expecting my daughter, my mom almost got taken in by some scammers. They managed to convince her that I was in jail and needed to make bail. Fortunately my parents got in touch with me before sending any money, but the extent to which scammers are willing to terrorize people is pretty terrible.

    • Yeah, my 91 year old mom a few years ago was taken in: cab picked her up and took her to Walgreens to buy a $500 gift card because “my sister was in trouble”. Fortunately, Walgreens management is very aware of such scams and they got her back home. Frightening.
