The Tao of Gaming

Boardgames and lesser pursuits

For best results, wait until at least age 11 for Bio-Terrorism. 7 is too young.

The optimal Bang! lasts 20 minutes.

A pair of treasure maps on turn 3 beats … well, most things.

The correct response to “Alea Iacta Est!” is “So what?” (or perhaps, “Meh”).

I downloaded and played Limbo (partially based on Peter’s Review, partially based on other glowing reviews, and mainly because I was bored and needed a video game fix). I agree that it’s:

  • Good
  • Prone to crash (My XBox crashed twice on Limbo in 4-5 hours, as compared to once for every other game/app ever in ~1000 hours)
  • Got a few moments of beauty (rare in video games, as opposed to cool, neat or pretty, which is more common)

Unless you need a fix, wait for a sale.

  1. Okay, I’ll bite. How do you get 2 treasure maps in your hand on turn 3?

  2. By “Turn 3” I meant “3rd time through the deck” (So normally, T6 or T7. Turn 5 if you are really lucky). However, IIRC his buys were Warehouse, Treasure Map, Silver, Treasuremap and then played a T5 Warehouse to cash in the maps. That’s pretty boss.

  3. Yeah, Warehouse/Treasure Map is a pretty severe beatdown. It’s much less powerful if no deck-cycling is available.
