The Tao of Gaming

Boardgames and lesser pursuits

Why does Factory Manager hate me so?

Another week, another loss. I gave up early income to do some faster tear-down (and to free up workers for turn 2) but another player’s yellow robot meant he had more income (for that one turn) and more workers in T3 and T4, with predictable results. I still don’t understand this game, which makes FM the game I’ll play fairly religiously until I do. Or commit suicide by robot.

Also played — Go! It’s been a few years. I played a roughly 10 kyu (AGA, 8 kyu IGS) with three stones handicap. My fighting was poor, but my opening moyo building (and just conceding fights for a few stones to build a wall) gave me enough of an edge that I could piss away 50 points and still win. I probably got too much of a handicap. I haven’t played a rated Go game in a decade, but I stilll play a little from time time.

Another Blast from the Past — San Juan. Still good.

Incan Gold — really not a good enough game, except for the entire “Being enjoyable” aspect. ncan Gold may have worse components than Diamant, but it does have the Scary Doll hazard. Creepy *#&$% doll.

  1. We always called the “creepy doll” in Incan Gold “Chucky”, after the (bad) movie(s) of the same name.

  2. Played San Juan with the expansion yet?

    • No, I haven’t gotten the expansion. Haven’t seen it locally, and haven’t mail ordered anything recently.
