The Tao of Gaming

Boardgames and lesser pursuits

Homesteaders Initial Thoughts

Since I haven’t actually played the game, just some random observations:

  • Simple rules, mostly clear. (Most of my questions were just clarifications).
  • Unfortunately, the counters don’t punch cleanly. (And one sheet was slightly mis-aligned). Nice heft, though.
  • Tough to tell much, this is an ‘organic’ game with lots of the decisions in the components. Much easier to understand with the game in front of you, which may be why I stopped reading the rules online last month.

I also ran through the combat training for Dungeon Lords (while punching and reading the rules). I need another game night…

  1. Regarding the counters punching out well:

Reports are that some of the copies were received slightly damp, so be careful with punching BGGCon copies, make sure they are dry first.

The rest of the copies are going to have something added to reduce humidity, before they are shipped out from TMG to customers. So everyone should get copies that are dry and punch cleanly.

Darn printing issues! They are working hard to correct them and ensure that everyone gets shipped a good copy.
