Slightly upping my level of Incompetence

A mere two weeks after getting to Kaiju on Hard, I have now beaten my first song on that level. I rock and/or roll. Now come the harder songs in the set. (Granted, I’m only playing every 2nd or 3rd day, but sheesh).

  1. Tier 7 (Kaiju Megadome) is where it gets really challenging (though I also found “The Metal” to be a big challenge for a while). If youre at that level on Hard you can almost certainly beat a bunch of the early expert songs as well, so thats something to do if you get stuck. (Or alternately, if youre like me, youll get stuck on Barracuda for a while) I recommend trying Knights of Cydonia a little bit at the end of each session, it will build up your strumming arm strength.

I’ve been playing pretty much every day and have now beaten every song in Expert career except Raining Blood! And I have 27 expert 5*s 🙂 If I manage to beat Raining Blood then I get to be stuck on the dragonforce song forever.

  2. I actually have already beaten a song on Expert, and I’ll probably start switching around a bit. For me, the real key is to play through the song on slowest and notice the patterns.

Then I can flail away at them at high speed. I may miss a lot of notes, but sometimes I hit the pattern…

  3. Yeah playing in practice and slowing it down can be really helpful (especially on the really fast stuff). Most of the later songs I had to play for hours in practice, starting really slow and speeding up as I got the hang of it. Otherwise I couldnt figure out the rythym because it comes at you so fast and I’d just keep failing the song.

  5. Knocked off another song on hard, a song on expert, and upped the star rating of a few other songs (Medium &Hard).
